Remember that the NYS Math test is this Wed. May 1 & Thur. May 2. There will be NO OUT-LUNCH on those days. The test begins promptly at 9am each morning and is untimed. Please remind your student(s) to bring two sharpened #2 pencils. As we've said before, the best preparation is to get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast – and remain calm!
Thank you for all of your recommendations for Hong Kong – it was an incredible trip, but saying goodbye to my daughter Jordan at the end was impossibly hard! While there, David and I met with a long time friend who is now the Dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of Hong Kong. She leads the entire HUGE department, and our conversation focused on a universal issue – helping teachers stay inspired, engaged and supported. We went halfway around the world and yet the topics within education are so similar.
I believe my work is to create an environment conducive to keeping teachers at their best. This involves professional development, time to plan and as many resources as possible. As we plan forward into next year, our school will grow, but resources from the federal, state, and city level will not always meet our needs. The Auction and the all the fundraising done by the PTA make our teachers’ lives better by providing resources to support their day to day work. So important!
In the next two months, our work will include balancing our budget, new staff hiring and new enrollment. It is a busy time, and the staff is involved in all of it. Please remember how hard they are working on behalf of your children and the future of our school – they are teaching and creating 75 Morton at the same time. Not easy!
